Design Philosophy

It's about web design and development that works. My design philosophy puts the business needs first, the user a very close second and the designer third.

The foundation of my design process is a thorough Requirements Analysis. I discuss all aspects of the business requirements, branding and communication philosophy, user needs, lead and demand generation requirements and much more. Before I put pencil to paper, I review the requirements analysis with the stakeholders so that we're all on the same page before I start designing and developing.

  1. The Business Needs:

Whether it's lead and demand generation, marketing awareness or community building and communication, a website is only a solution to a business challenge. As technical as I am, I look at website building from a marketing and communication angle, not a tech angle. I use the coolest tools and technologies, but only if they are appropriate to creating business solutions.

Businesses know their goals, the company, the culture and their clients best. I work with the stakeholders to create communication media that best addresses the clients in relation to the business' goals. I learn about the clientele and the business, and the web site reflects the commitment to the customers.

  2. The Web Site User:

If the web site is not functional or if the web site is difficult to navigate, the web site is useless. My design philosophy puts the user first.

Positive user experience = Positive company image.

  3. My web design philosophy includes easy-to-use administration and web site management tools like Canterris Marketing Suite so website managers can make changes to the web site without incurring further charges.

  4. The Designer:

I am a problem solver. Not my problems, your problems. My solutions best suit the business needs, not my ego.
